The Whale Shark is the largest fish in the world. They can grow up to 12m / 40 feet long and as adults weigh in at 15,000kg / 33,000lbs! While the idea of swimming alongside a "Shark" of such enormous size, may seem daunting, Whale Sharks are an extremely docile animal and completely harmless to humans. They are filter feeders, eating primarily plankton. Join us on a Full Day Trip to encounter these incredible giants of the sea.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY
You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to a private marina in Cancun. During the trip to the marina your guide will brief you on the plan for the day and explain the biology of the Whale Shark its' habitat.
Once you arrive to the marina, you will be offered a light breakfast and access to bathrooms. Your guide will help organise your snorkel equipment and get you set up to head to the boat.
Once on the boat you will head out to the open ocean and start the search for the Whale Sharks, as the sharks are continuously migrating how long it takes to locate them varies. It may take 30 minutes or 2 hours - sit back, relax and enjoy the trip! Dolphins, Mantas and Turtles can all be spotted along the way, and if it is possible the Captain will stop the boat so that you can jump in and snorkel with them.
Once we have reached the Whale Shark area, you will jump in with your guide in pairs to swim with these incredible animals. Get ready to swim - you want to stay next to them as long as possible. 😉 This is truly a once in a lifetime experience, a memory you will keep forever.
The boat will then head to Playa Norte, Isla Mujeres and anchor in the shallow waters of this spectacular beach. The crew will prepare a fresh lunch of Ceviche (a traditional seafood salad), Guacamole, fruit and sandwiches. You can stay on board or jump out and take a dip in the crystal clear water.
After lunch a quick boat ride will see you back at the marina. Showers and bathrooms are available for you to use and your transportation will be waiting to take you back to your hotel.
PLEASE NOTE
There will be a maximum of 10 guests onboard and 3 staff members. Your guide, the Deckhand (who also is a guide) and the Capitan. Our guides are active Dive Professionals - Instructors/Divemasters and will be there to help you throughout the day to make sure you have a fantastic experience.
Boats are comfortable with shade, equipped with GPS, Radio, Emergency Flares, Emergency First Aid Kit and Oxygen and Life Jackets. Water, Soft Drinks and Sandwiches are available at all times on the boat.
